First of all, a big thank you to everyone who participated in our free open gym on National Gymnastics Day. We raised almost $300 for the Children’s Miracle Network here in Mobile!
This month we have two Monday holidays. Fortunately there are five Mondays in October, so you only need to make up one. Make up day for rec. classes is Saturday, October 22nd, so sign up at the front desk for one of the classes. The holidays are October 10th for Columbus Day and 31st for Halloween.
The Planet Beach Meet is on the weekend of October 15 & 16. You can see our young dynamites, juniors, and our recreational development team compete at 8am on Saturday. Our team levels 1-5 compete throughout Saturday, and Sunday morning. The schedule and admission prices is posted on our website and the front door. You can pick up a schedule at the front desk or in the boxes in the lobby. This is a USA Gymnastics sanctioned event and will be a lot different from what you usually see at the gym.
Dress Up Week is 24th-28th, so dress up to every class you attend. The coaches will be dressed up too, and we will have some candy to give away.
Vlad has now finished installing industrial fans in the gym to add to the air conditioning, just in time for our Indian summer.
We have a new boys coach, Alex (and his wife). He has developed some great boys’ programs up north, and we are excited to have his energy in the gym. We are also happy that our former State Champion, Jon Zugg is back in the gym, and doing a great job coaching the girls’ team on bars.
Good luck to our level 1 and 2 teams competing across the bay, and in Mississippi (L2 only) this month. We will have team practice as normal on the Monday after the meet (17th).
Our fencing team has some new members, including some adults. Success has also come along, with Sienna winning her first trophy for 3rd place at the Birmingham tournament, and Natasha winning a 7th place medal at the Athens tournament. Anyone can take a free trial class, just see the front desk.
